When used within approximately 35 miles of the broadcast towers, the Channel Master FLATenna will normally receive at least some available channels when reception conditions are suitable. If the antenna is receiving no channels at all, first check the TV setup, antenna placement, and coaxial connections.
1. Make sure your TV is scanning for antenna channels.
This is one of the most common reasons an antenna receives no channels. Open your television's channel or tuner settings and make sure the signal source is set to Antenna, Air, or Over-the-Air, not Cable. Then perform a new channel scan.
Cable TV and over-the-air television use different signals. If the television is configured to scan for cable channels, it may not detect the over-the-air channels being received by the FLATenna.
2. Try a different antenna location.
Indoor antenna reception is highly dependent on placement. Install the FLATenna as high as practical and, when possible, near a window or exterior wall facing the direction of the broadcast towers. Avoid placing the antenna directly behind the television, near other electronic equipment, or behind large metal objects.
Building materials, walls, neighboring structures, terrain, trees, and other obstructions can weaken TV signals before they reach an indoor antenna. Try several locations before determining that a particular channel cannot be received.
3. Check the coaxial cable connection.
Make sure the coaxial cable is securely connected to both the FLATenna and the television. For troubleshooting, connect the antenna directly to the TV without splitters, amplifiers, adapters, or other devices installed between them.
4. Perform another channel scan after moving the antenna.
Your television only knows which channels are available based on its most recent channel scan. If you reposition the FLATenna, perform another antenna channel scan so the TV can detect channels available from the new location.
Indoor TV antenna reception can be challenging in locations with weak signals, interference, or significant obstructions. For the best possible reception and overall user experience, Channel Master strongly recommends an outdoor antenna installation whenever possible.
