I enjoy toying with this equipment. I was familiar with Channel Master in the 1980s due to a relative being a certified technician. I enjoy experimenting with how distant signal receptions can be picked up. At first I added a cheap indoor antenna from Amazon that picked up maybe 10 channels, most with interference, disappointing. Got what we paid for. Afterwards, I purchased a Channel Master Metroantenna 40 mile range (Amazon dp/B000XSAW9S), installed in the attic at about 30' off ground, picked up 23-26 channels, most with solid reception. Added a Channel Master Titan 2 Medium Gain PreAmp. The channel count increased to 33 with mostly solid reception on initial scan. By scanning for more channels, eventually the collective count rose to a total of 92 channels stored in my guide (most channels of course were detected and would play for a short time but dropped out after a short time. Sometimes on a stormy night the antenna was detecting signals up to 150 miles away! i.e., Coastal NC to Raleigh, NC, and Charleston, SC, 130 miles away. Two stations in nearby Wilmington, NC eluded us with the attic installation; a low power station, Channel 10 and Channel 49, in spite of adding a LTE filter by Channel Master. In the past week, we moved the 40 mile range antenna outdoors, installing the antenna on a 30 ft mast. It was difficult since my son had to do the install without assistance. For the first 5 days the reception was not performing as expected. I was very disappointed. Two nights ago, during a late night scan the antenna with amplifier picked up WSOC, 172 miles away, all the way in Charlotte, NC! At that point I knew the antenna and amplifier had likely not been damaged during installation, but since I had never seen transmitters from Charlotte, NC in past signal detection... we must not have the multidirectional antenna aligned properly. Just last night, with some tweaking of the direction the antenna is pointed, we are now getting around 50 channels, most of them with solid reception. Channel 10 is now coming in crystal clear for the first time, as is Channel 49. Some groups of channels will come through at night (i.e., my favorite is WPDE 15-4 (transmitter based in Mullins, SC, 60 miles away) the "Weather Authority" with 24/7 weather reports for coastal weather. Rating given to Channel Master equipment: 5 stars/ A+
