Recommended for cord-cutters May 19, 2017

I was already receiving (most) local  OTA signals, but had a satellite subscription, too.  Became annoyed by the cost-to-service ratio and looked into the CM DVR+.  Did the math, and realized that it would pay for itself in short order if I was willing to take a break from cable net offerings.   Easy install and set-up. I discovered channels that I didn't know were available to me.  The tuner in the DVR+ evidently was better able to resolve signals than was my TV's built-in tuner.  Wireless dongle accessed web-based channels and apps. A good place to start for additional variety.  Includes VUDU app and YouTube!  After a few months, I felt I had saved enough to step up to Sling TV, with cable favs.  Can't record these, but many shows eps are offered on-demand.  I'm at $25/month; You can start as low as $20/month.  More offerings, including HBO, are available for additional fees -- and it would still be a far better deal than was my satellite service.

Awesome DVR April 28, 2017
Reviewer: Bob from Eastern North Carolina
I have been using the Channel Master DVR for about 5 months.

I bought (2) DVRs, each with a 1TB hard drive (internal) and the optional USB WIFI adapter. One is installed in our bedroom and the other in the main living room.

The DVR record and playback function is easy to set up and use.

The remote control is easy to use. One button I find useful is the TV input control button; helpful if other devices are connected to your TV (ie. Roku, Google ChromeCast, AppleTV, or even basic Cable TV).

One small nit: The remote control lacks a dedicated sleep button; the ability to toggle/select 30, 60 or 90 minute sleep timer and automatically turn off the display and sound.

Overall, the DVR is easy to use.  I am very satisfied with my purchase. I have recommended the DVR to other cord cutters!

Free HDTV and DVR+ April 24, 2017
Reviewer: Dr Dan from Cleveland Ohio
We have been using this device for only a few weeks and not impressed with the operations. Some of the over the air signals seem to fade in and out so the recorded shows are choppy. A couple of channels come in good and are fun to watch. Using the streaming services (Sling) also provides varying results. Sometimes the stream come in with a good quality picture but other times you can see the MPEG encoding with poor resolution. I would guess my Internet provider has limited bandwidth so when everyone is on-line the picture quality goes bad. The box one time went blank on the screen with no sound and the red LED came on the front. Had to do a factory reset to get the box to come back up. The operations of the menu require multiple clicks to select functions. No wireless on the remote so be sure to point it at the box to get it to work. If they added a channel to record home security cameras would be a nice feature. We will keep using this box for now and see how it goes.

Totally Worth It. March 31, 2017
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Chicago Suburbs
I bought this unit a little over a year ago.  I didn't want to write a review until I had tried the unit for a long time.  My wife and I love the DVR+.  It works really well.  We were spending a little over $170 a month on CableTV/Internet and now we are at $35 a month.  The DVR function works really well the channel guide is as up to date as the stations are broadcasting the signals, so we are very happy.  Thank you Channel Master.

Love the DVR March 22, 2017
Reviewer: Poky_f_b from Idaho
My wife and I love the DVR and it works extremely well, but I only gave it a good rating, because I give the remote, channel guide and the Channel Master TV a poor rating.

The remote only works half the time even when pointing it at the DVR. Sadly it works better on my Visio TV than it does the DVR.

The 14 day channel guide doesn't even show the same day shows info until you click on the unknown event and then it give you the info. That is even after you refresh the guide in the setting menu.

The Channel Master TV is nothing more than a bunch of useless channels that are of no value to us and some of them don't even work.
