Channel Master Serves Up New DVR+ Model with 1TB Internal Hard Drive

Phoenix, AZ--(July 9, 2014) - - Furthering its TV Freedom initiative for consumers, Channel Master announced today the launch of a new DVR+ model that includes a 1TB internal hard drive. The company previously launched the 16GB model, which requires the user to provide an external USB hard drive, at the International CES in Las Vegas in January. Both DVR+ models are subscription-free.

The 1TB DVR+ is available now at Channelmaster.com and Bestbuy.com, with an MSRP of $399.99. Like the 16GB model launched earlier this year, the 1TB DVR+ includes two tuners, allowing the user to record two programs at once or record one program while watching another. Users also enjoy advanced DVR features such as pause live TV, skip back and skip forward. The purchase price includes the 14-day channel guide, eliminating the need for a subscription service.

"The form factor of the DVR+ did not change for the 1TB model," said Coty Youtsey, president of Channel Master, "it's still the world's slimmest DVR. It's hard to believe there's a 1TB hard drive inside this flat little box. It's ENERGY STAR 3.0-compliant for ultra-low power consumption, runs very cool, and is absolutely silent because the design eliminates the need for a fan."

DVR+ is designed to meet the needs of consumers who traditionally rely on antenna-delivered broadcast TV, as well as those who choose to cancel pay-TV services for the lower-cost combination of free over-the-air broadcast programming and various online streaming services, a popular movement known as cord cutting. For the majority of Americans, upwards of 80% of their TV viewing comes from free broadcast networks available through a TV antenna, including ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS, The CW, Univision and Telemundo.

"We're excited to round out the DVR+ line with this new model" said Joe Bingochea, executive vice president of product development. "The 16GB model is a great lower-cost option for people who want to supply their own hard drive and choose their recording capacity and it's been extremely popular. Now, with the 1TB model, we have a premium option for people who prefer to have the internal hard drive."

The company says it has big plans for further development of the DVR+ platform. "Right now the product comes with the VUDU app pre-installed, which is a fantastic pay-as-you-go service for thousands of movies and TV shows," said Youtsey. "But we know our customers would also like to have some of their favorite subscription streaming services in the menu and we're working on that, along with some other surprises for later this year."

For customers who want to watch their live TV anywhere on mobile devices and also have remote access to their DVR for watching recorded content and setting timers, both DVR+ models are compatible with the Slingbox 500.
