DVR+ 1T verses the old PAL unit. July 2, 2015
Reviewer: Joel from Raleigh, NC United States
DVR+ 1T verses the old PAL unit.

Pros:
Better interface, better recording of new shows, more disk space for recording. Internet ready with some streaming. Smaller & not as loud when running.

Cons:
Dual tuners isn't as good as the PAL (My TV had worse tuner, we used the PAL when the wind picked up, the DVR+ is worse than the TV). Remote needs work (Buttons small, no live button, can't use DVD or Audio on DVR+ remote, etc). Streaming buffers more than Roku (Both have Vevo, always buffers {pauses} on DVR+, Roku doesn't stop for buffering).

Coming out: New remote. CM should send this remote out for free to all DVR+ customers. We shouldn't have to pay another $29+ shipping.

I'm really thinking about returning the DVR+ due to the bad Dual tuners! This is really a downer for me! I should have just kept the PAL and not bought a DVR+.

Wow, DVR + Almost Perfect July 2, 2015
Reviewer: W. Morris from Tallahassee, FL United States
We cut the satellite TV cord back in February 2011 when I discovered Channel Masters CM-7000PAL DVR.
After reading the reviews I realized this offered most everything I needed or wanted.
I love the 2 week TV Guide and being able to search for a program and set it to record only the new shows of the series in just a few button presses.
I have seen a lot of people complaining about the hard drive not spinning down and wearing out sooner. My WD My Book Hard Drive spins down and goes into standby after about 10 minutes of no activity. When the RED record light on the DVR+ came on the hard drive light came on steady with an occasional flash indicating it is recording.
The remote should have been flipped with the most used functions at the top and the numeric key pad at the bottom.  The new Enhanced DVR+ Remote looks like it will fit the bill.
Bottom line, other than the remote, I have not found anything worth complaining about. Thank you Channel Master.

DVR+ July 2, 2015
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Apopka, FL United States
I have used Channel Master products in the past and have always been satisfied with the performance.
The DVR+ was very easy to set up and program.
Watching noncompressed channels is as different as night and day.

Serious Channel Master Firmware Update Issues July 2, 2015
Reviewer: HLSJR from Albany, CA United States
As a note our household currently owns 5 DVR+  w/Ext HDs.

This is the second time an update had to be hastily followed by a fix update. Unfortunately the fix update seems to be worse. Not only are there still issues with using the new streaming channels, but YouTube still will not work properly and of course the remote has now been reprogrammed from its original settings to some new improved model that is not truly so.

Additionally I now have one of my units deciding to not recognize the installed HD, reinitializing it without warning thereby erasing ALL recorded shows, and then setting the recording schedule to be unusable. Series Options shows programs but they are all scheduled as zero (0) even though the programs are actually running at the correct selected times. I needed to erase all programming that had been set and start all over again. Why have a DVR if it erases your programs without notice. I tested the HD separately with a PC and it is in 100% working order.

Firmware Upgrade Works Great July 2, 2015
Reviewer: Robert Smith from San Diego, CA United States
Received the DVR+ and set it up.  It was very easy, and I downloaded the new firmware supporting Linear TV.  My only problem was figuring out how to enable the internet channels.  The updated guide looks great, and the OTA and internet channels are easy to navigate on the guide.  Hopefully, there will be new online content soon, esp. Sling TV.
