Good Product, but lacking features October 7, 2015
Reviewer: Bob Baker from NM
Unable to access web sites, or to record any web info., just OTA broadcasts, also unable to download any movies to mass storage to play later.

Unit worked well out of the box, user guide has some errors, but over all better than using a VCR.

Good product, needs refinement October 7, 2015

Overall I recommend this product. If you love your cable/satellite DVR but want to eliminate the monthly fees this is the way to go! Lots of room for improvement though.

Feels like a Beta product. The system is unable to view shows saved on the built in storage once you connect a USB HDD.

The software is not intuitive, but gets done what you need. It just feels clunky. I wanted to try it out before buying a USB HDD, but no live pause, no series recording with the built in storage. No onscreen prompts to indicate "USB HDD Required for that feature." No way to network together multiple receivers.

The receiver finds the same channels as my 2011 Samsung TV; however, the picture quality is not as good. The DVR+ shows that the signal "Strength" is 100% and signal "Quality" is usually 100% but randomly goes down, when it does the picture digitizes or goes out intermittently. Move the plug back directly into the TV I have none of these problems.

We love this device! October 7, 2015

We bought this to replace the ability to record programs that we lost when we decided to end our satellite subscription. The channel guide is excellent. This really improves the interface for operating an HDTV.

If you are considering purchasing one of these remember to invest in a good antenna if you wish to record reliably without pixelazation.

This is not really a negatve, but it would be nice if the signal strength and quality were available on the info screen.

As good as promised October 7, 2015

The $10 antenna is excellent. The DVR is exactly as promised. I added an external hard drive and it was easy. Only wish I could get Netflix through the DVR - but still an incredible product. Thanks

DVR+ Rocks! October 7, 2015
Reviewer: Phil Walker from Wichita, KS
I'm about two weeks in using & enjoying my DVR+ and while it's not perfect, it far exceeds my expectations when I ordered.  So much, so, in fact, I'm taking delivery today on my second unit.
Comparing the DVR+ to Windows 7 Media Center (which went pretty much toes up back in July when the program information died), it has a superior picture, improved sound quality, with far less noise-there are no fans running.  Here's the frosting on the cake:  the DVR+ consumes only 8 watts standby, 9 to 10 watts while in operation.   Compared to the computer with the Media Center-80 to 100 continuous 24-7.   Less power means less heat & noise, and of course, in the summer time less air conditioning.
On the downside, the OEM remote is awkward and not of a good design button wise.  I have ordered the upgraded remotes which I feel should have been included.  Also, the software requires far too many button pushes to accomplish most any task.   This is why I claim the DVR + is not perfect.
